Room2 doing felting with Esta

Today Ester Isha's mum came to Room 2 to teach us how to make a felting patch. Ester is a professional felter and she has won awards in the NZ Wearable Arts competition with her felting.

So today she came and did her felting with us.

First get got the wool and pull it into strips to make your base on top of a towel and piece of bubble wrap.

Create your picture or design on top with other pieces of wool. If you want to use raw wool, you need to drag it out over two felting brushes, like Rheanna did with her brown sheep's wool.

Next get some hot water and spread it on the felt patch.

Now rub it in a circle motion with soap on your hands - sticky....ew...

After that you roll it up and rub it 10 times to make the wool shrink into felt.

Lastly you rinse out the felting and squeeze out the water until the water runs completely clear.
